All-vegan cakes (several gluten-free) made with naturally-grown fruit
marbre vegan is a small, all-vegan cake counter on the ground floor of Parkside Square, a minute's walk from Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station and more or less across the street from Shinjuku Gyoen itself — close enough that it works well as a stop before or after a walk through the park.
The draw is the glass cabinet up front: a rotating shelf of cakes made entirely without egg, dairy or honey, with several — though not all — also gluten-free (soy-free and alcohol-free options are marked too). The strawberry shortcake is what regulars come back for, praised in reviews for a moist, close-to-conventional texture — even visitors who aren't vegan rate it highly; the marbled namesake cake, apple tart and a rotating tiramisu round out the case. Savory options are limited to a single sandwich that rotates through the week — an "egg" version some days, a katsu-style cutlet on others — so this reads as a dessert stop rather than a full meal.
The space itself is compact and quiet — more café counter than restaurant, non-smoking — and gets genuinely busy at peak times, with queues out the door. It's open daily from 11:00 to 19:00 (last order 18:00), with no fixed closing day. There's no dedicated English menu, but the display case does most of the explaining — gluten-free and alcohol-free items are marked, and staff are used to walking visitors through the options. Whole cakes can be reserved ahead by phone or email for pickup, handy if you're timing a visit around a celebration; cards and e-money are accepted alongside cash. Given the small seat count, it's worth booking ahead, or being ready to wait, if you want a table rather than takeout.

★ Seasonal organic-vegetable small plates paired with natural wine

★ All-plant-based cheeseburger with a double soy-meat patty and plant cheese
A neon, sci-fi bar in Shinjuku 3-chome whose menu is currently 100% plant-based — junk-style vegan burgers from blended soy meat, plant cheese and mushroom 'meat' sauce, made without egg, dairy, honey or the five pungent roots. Theatrical and tourist-friendly rather than health-focused.
A long-running Turkish kebab house near Shinjuku Gyoen serving grills, doner and mezze made with halal meat. It is Muslim-friendly / halal-meat rather than third-party certified, and alcohol is served on the premises, so it suits Muslim diners who are comfortable with that distinction.
★ A layered clam-and-porcini shio soba blending Japanese dashi with truffle and European aromatics
Famed for its clam-and-truffle shio soba, this Shinjuku Gyoen shop held a Michelin one star in 2022-2023 and currently carries a Michelin Bib Gourmand; it runs a numbered-ticket system, so arrive early.
